چکیده

Although beta-adrenoceptor antagonists were first developed for their potential therapeutic uses in cardiac disease, it was soon recognized during clinical trials that they had effects on the central nervous system, some ofthem unwanted, but others ofpossible therapeutic value. This paper reviews some recent developments in this area of beta-adrenoceptor clinical pharmacology, earlier studies having been the subject of other reviews.'

Rare Association of Severe Cryptococcal and Tuberculosis in Central Nervous System in a case of Sarcoidosis

Sarcoidosis is a multisystem noncaseating granulomatous disease with a propensity for lung, eye, and skin which recently have been proposed that mycobacterium tuberculosis may contribute in its pathogenesis, and rarely involves central nervous system (CNS). Despite CD4+ lymphocytopenia, sarcoidosis by itself does not increase risk of opportunistic infections other than cryptococcosis.Nonethel...

ارزیابی اثرات سیستم سروتونرژیک بر زمان خواب در رات: بررسی با دو روش رفتاری (Sleeping time) و الکتروفیزیولوژیکی (EEG)

The phenomenon of sleep is an active nervous and biologic rhythm, which is under influence of neurotransmitters of central nervous system. In this study, the influence of serotonergic system on sleeping time have been assessed by agonist-antagonist drugs using two methods of induction and non-induction behavioral and electrophysiology. The method used for measurement of total sleeing time was A...

P151: The Effects of Boswellia Serrate on Central Nervous System

In the process of neuronal inflammation, an increased in inflammatory cytokines (IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α) from immune cells (leukocytes and macrophages), brain cells (microglia, astrocytes and neurons) and in hippocampus, amygdala occurs. Raise the level of cytokines result in reduced in production of molecules that are related to plasticity, especially BDNF, IGF-1 and VEGF. Microglia ...

ADENOSINE IN THE CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM

Besides being a metabolite of nucleotides like ATP, adenosine is a mediator of neuronal function in the central nervous system. Its actions are mediated by at least three extracellular receptors. In this review different aspects of adenosine such as biosynthesis, release, inactivation and its receptors are discussed. It also covers pre- and postsynaptic effects as well as postreceptor mecha...
